- An engineering background is a must. You’ve either shipped code at a serious level (and now do product), or you’ve - led engineering teams and want to own product too - 5+ years total, including 2+ on a developer-facing or API product with self-serve / PLG - You’ve moved an activation or conversion metric a lot, and can explain exactly how you did it - You can hold a multi-product platform in your head and still ship clean, simple things - You read API specs for fun. You write specs developers can build from - You’re numerate. SQL, experiments, dashboards — your tools, not someone else’s job - You’ve shipped pricing changes and lived with the results - Bonus: voice, speech, real-time media, or AI infra. Bigger bonus: you’ve built a developer community
